80’s
Anyone who grew up in this era loves an 80’s themed party!
Think fluro colours, rubix cubes, glow sticks, pac man, yo yos and sweat bands… in your face 80’s pop culture
Colour themed chill out areas allowed guests to relaxed and reminisce about all the pop culture that made the 80’s so memorable. 80’s music, flashing lights, arcade games and staff dressed in leg warmers and fluro pants made it a fun night for all.
Whimsical Wedding
The brief for this wedding was a whimsical indoor garden, where the bride and groom felt like a king & queen for the day!
A flock of fake flamingos were placed in the garden and water feature to greet the guests on arrival. Two entrance tables featuring stunning white and green floral introduced the guests into this magical garden setting. Ornamental rabbits and birds, donut trees and thrones were incorporated into this setting as well. Guests then walked down a grass aisle to take their seat at the circle of bentwood chairs. Above the ceremony area hung a huge ivy covered chandelier. It was all starting to feel like a forest now!
For the reception, guests dined at long tables which featured beautiful centrepieces consisting of blossom trees surrounded by pink, purple, white and green fragrant floral.
This was definitely not your typical, traditional white wedding!
Fantasy
These imaginative clients wanted to create a Whimsical/Fantasy like setting for their daughters Bar mitzvah, that was also innocent and childlike. Guests arrived through the garden via a giant blow up slide. Giant “jelly fish” glowing installations, inspired by Avatar, were installed along the path way with NICA performers suspended from the roof. A magnificent garden lolly world was created with whoopie pies, jelly cubes, toffee apples and trees made from marshmallows, strawberries and cupcakes.
Disney
Disney! “The happiest place on earth”! When The Design Depot was approached to create this wonderland we couldn’t of been happier, escaping back to world where Aladdin, Cinderella, Mickey and Mini, Alice in Wonderland and Snow White came to life.
“It’s a small world after all…” begun to be sang throughout the office as the excitetment grew.
We focused on a few of the client’s much loved characters being Aladdin, Mickey and Mini and of course the Villains of Disney including Captain Hook, Ursula, Jaffar, and Cruella de Vil. Aladdin’s Bar was created with palm trees, ottomans, Moroccan style food and cocktails were served from small specimen vases. The Villains area was forest like with cobwebbing and of course a witch cackling whilst stirring her brew. The dance floor was created into a beautiful fantasy like setting with fairy lights forming a giant chandelier, for a “Cinderella” moment.
Universal
This Barmitvah was a mixture of modernity vs classic vs relaxed vs Japanese down town.
Technology and futuristic furniture were used to create a virtual world for the guests filled with silent discos, X box games, dance revolution and a funky lolly bar.The Cipriani Bar and Vodka Bar brought a classic restaurant concept for the adult guest. Waiters were dressed in crisp white Cipriani jackets and served club sandwiches and Pimms to complete the scene.
A Stokehouse at summer time area was created on the back deck. Large wicker furniture, beach inspired decor and lush planting created the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the delicious barbeque banquet. The Sushi Bar, was created using 1000 paper cranes (hand folded in the office for weeks prior to the event), a tradition in Japanese culture that brings good luck and health.
The night was completed with performances by Ruby Rose, Havana Brown, Justice Crew and Guy Sebastian.

A Night of Horror
The Design Depot’s first ‘horror’ party recently went off with a bang (and a few spine-tingling screams!)
The private home was well-suited to such a fabulous theme with imposing their imposing columns lit a fiery red.The guests entered the marquee via the cobweb draped garden, scattered with tombstones, candelabras and some heavy night time fog.
The marquee was transformed into a derelict house turned party for some ghastly looking guests! Filled with gothic furniture, black chandeliers, more cobwebs and spiders, cut off limbs, internal organs, skeletons, fake blood and some fabulous dead looking roses.
To top it all off, staff were dressed to blend into the gruesome scenery with some pretty dramatic horror inspired make-up and costumes!

A Touch of Vintage
What a beautiful day for a beautiful wedding!
The Botanic Gardens was the perfect setting for a traditional garden ceremony. Guests were comfortably seated in white folding chairs and shaded by market umbrellas. A long white carpet led to a canopy filled with garlands of amazing floral, under which the bride and groom took their vows.
The reception, which was held at Luminare, was a great choice for a vintage inspired wedding in a modern touch. Guests were seated on clear Louis ghost chairs at a mix of tables sizes, covered with a devine natural weave cloth and decorated with an range of colourful floral in eclectic vintage vases and tealights. The finishing touch, a cluster of raw light globes above each table, provided some intimate light as the sun set over Melbourne’s skyline.

Modern Industrial
The simplicity of white washed pallets layered up to create bars and bar tables interspersed with couches and ottomans and over scaled oak branches was the centrepiece of this fabulous 21st party at home. White buckets and feature hanging globes in the roof were used to change the marquee ceiling and create a raw industrial feel.

Jungle Fever
This great theme allowed us to go all out with the decor, the styling of the staff and the presentation of the food. Bars were wrapped in bamboo slats and the roof was covered in an abundance of folliages. Brightly coloured flowers lifted the greenery whilst whicker furniture was used to create small intimate pods along with bars and stools and some wonderfully placed life sized jungle animals.

Moroccan Bazaar
A warm summers evening was the perfect backdrop for this Moroccan Bazzar themed event. Staff were dressed in theme and the air was pungent with fresh garden roses. Belly dancers, a tea shop, hookah pipes and food stalls all blended together to create a unique experience.
Lexus Marquee – Birdcage Spring Racing Carnival
The feel this year for Lexus was to create a warm homely feel in the interiors of the first three storied marquee at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. Each floor had its own feel and style, from the use of caramel, tan leather, natural wood and eclectic layering of frames, books and boxes to an open lounge area with bar stools and an incredible view of the Birdcage, to lastly the top deck with its garden feel and the first ever view of the track.
